Stephen Chbosky - The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I was entirely caught off guard when I started to read this one, I couldn't put it down.  Granted, it's geared towards young adults so the reading's easy - but the content really grabbed me.
A freshman boy in high school writes letters anonymously to someone starting each letter off with 'Dear Friend' and ending each letter with Love, 'Charlie'.  In each letter he explains the day to day of his life, his problems, his fears - everything important to him.  The reader gets to know his family, the inner workings of his mind, the things he loves.  This book is extremely real.  Charlie could be your cousin, your best friend, the boy down the street - anyone.  It could be you.  He is extremely likable and easily related to.  This book makes you want to reach through and give this fictional character a hug and tell him you've been there too and he's not alone.  A page turner whether I was in tears or laughing, I finished this book in less than two days.  The end is sad, expected, but happy all at the same time.  It creates hope for the future for Charlie, the recipient of his letter, and everyone                                                                        else in the world.  Worth a read, especially if you're somewhat                                                                      sentimental.
